Research shows that women and men approach treatment differently. Gender-specific treatment can enhance a client’s focus. Sensitive and very personal issues are more likely to be explored in a gender specific atmosphere. We strongly believe that men in early recovery are more likely to achieve long-term sobriety in a non-coed environment. The camaraderie that is developed here between men is very special and friendships that are formed here last a lifetime.

We have had hundreds of alumni share their experience, strength and hope with the new men in the house. It’s very common for them to communicate that – were the Gooden Center not an all male environment – they would never have made it where they are today. The amount of honesty that emerges in groups is far more beneficial in an all male environment.
