50th Anniversary Celebration

  –  Fifty Never Looked so Gooden

Over $80,000 raised to support the mission of The Gooden Center

The Gamble House lawn in Pasadena on a balmy fall evening, under a harvest moon was an amazing setting for our festivities! Two-hundred eighty guests feasted on a delicious meal catered by Spot Gourmet, enjoyed music provided by Art Deco, and got an opportunity to see the inside of a Green & Green architectural icon.

Robert Shapiro and the Brent Shapiro Foundation were honored for their work as educators to youth in the challenges and potential deadly results of alcohol and drug addiction. The Shapiro family started the foundation as a way to deal with the personal loss of their son Brent to an overdose at age 24.

A highlight to the evening was a video that tells the story of The Gooden Center through the eyes and compelling words of three families whose lives have been impacted by addiction. Each shared how education, understanding, and camaraderie of other men and their families found at The Gooden Center have been transformative for their lives. Here are their stories.
