Clinical Director - Dr. George Patterson

George Patterson, PhD, affectionately called "Dr. George" by his friends, peers and clients, has been working in the field of intervention and therapy for three decades. Dr. George's work encompasses individuals, families, and businesses and includes specialized counseling within the entertainment industry. He is a licensed Marriage, Family and Child Therapist who has devoted his professional life to teaching and healing people.

Dr. George has been a national trainer in addictions, one of the early pioneers in interventions, served as the clinical director of inpatient and outpatient programs, and continues to have a private practice specializing in addictions and codependency. He also began the Family Program at The Gooden Center 12 years ago.

Dr. George Patterson received his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Southern California, and Masters Degrees from the International Graduate School of University of Stockholm, Sweden and California State University, Northridge.

While continuing his work in these areas, Dr. Patterson's current focus has been profoundly influenced and greatly enhanced by his work and training in what is now known as the Three Principles. Using the innate mental health of the individual, and working from the inside-out, a new, respectful and empowering model of psychotherapy and intrapersonal change has evolved. This model has been developed and refined in close partnership with his friend, colleague and author Joseph P. Bailey.

A member of his church choir, and an avid fly-fisherman, Dr. George is married and has three grown children.
